SUMMARY:Community Webinar: Tapping the Power of Mindfulness to Navigate Stress
DESCRIPTION:Navigating the loss of a spouse\, a parent\, a sibling\, or anyone else in our inner circle creates stress on many levels. Whether expected or unexpected\, a loss can create waves of powerful emotion: shock and denial\, anger and guilt\, sadness and regret. At the same time\, the loss may have a significant impact on our day-to-day lives\, altering family dynamics and parenting roles\, adding new financial and household responsibilities\, and impacting our social relationships and support networks. \nIt’s not surprising that the loss of a spouse or loved one are ranked among life’s most stressful experiences. In this webinar\, we will explore the power of mindfulness to help us navigate all kinds of stress\, from day-to-day annoyances to the deeper pain of loss. \nParticipants will… \n-understand what mindfulness is and isn’t \n-discuss how mindfulness can help us to respond to stress with greater compassion\, both for ourselves and for others. \n-experience mindfulness practice first-hand. \n-identify strategies for bringing more mindfulness into their own lives. \n-have access to resources to aid in building their own mindfulness practice. \nAll in-person attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. \nDiana Pecina has been practicing mindfulness meditation since 2006\, and has spent more than a month on silent retreat. She has studied meditation and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the Brown University School of Public Health\, the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion\, the Barre School for Buddhist Studies (BCBS)\, and the Insight Meditation Society. Diana currently offers mindfulness workshops to a variety of populations\, including those who are navigating grief and loss. She is also a Support Group Facilitator and Team Coordinator at Good Grief. \nRegister here: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_EvuJBF4qSnKueO2tdlICSA#/registration
