2019 Spring Institute Keynote Address featuring Rebecca Soffer

You're invited to join us at Good Grief’s 2019 Spring Institute Keynote Address where you will have the opportunity to hear from Rebecca Soffer, author and founder of Modern Loss. Rebecca experienced the sudden death of both her parents—her mother in a car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike and her father to a heart attack just four years later. In her own words, “Modern Loss is a place to share the unspeakably taboo, unbelievably hilarious, and unexpectedly beautiful terrain of navigating your life after a death. Beginners welcome.”

Rebecca has been a lifelong organizer of communities, both public and private. Using her masters in journalism from Columbia University, she accompanied Stephen Colbert on his quest to get to know all 435 U.S. Representatives, helped to grow a leading network of Jewish creatives, has contributed pieces across media, including Marie Claire, Refinery29, Elle Decor, and Tablet Magazine’s podcast, Vox Tablet, has spoken at Chicago Ideas Week, HBO and now Good Grief! Rebecca has always found strength in numbers, and thrives in bringing people together.

Our Spring Institute provides a day of learning for the more than 200 volunteers who make Good Grief possible. Good Grief provides free programs to children and families after the death of a parent or sibling at its Morristown and Princeton centers and through our Jersey City and Newark satellite locations.
