Good Grief Wraps Up the Fall–Winter 2024 Webinar Schedule

Good Grief hosts free webinars for the community focusing on topics surrounding grief and loss. We hosted four of these insightful webinars last fall.

This September, Amy Rubin, an experienced educator turned Mindfulness Development Coach, kicked off our 2024–25 webinar series with an introduction to her MindfulSELFF (Mindful Social-emotional Learning for Friends & Families) program. MindfulSELFF was founded in 2017 to combat the empathy and anxiety epidemic affecting young people. Many people tuned in to learn how to understand the effects of stress and grief on the brain and body, how mindfulness can help, how to recognize the signs of distress using the polyvagal theory, and discovered helpful strategies to support the grieving process and grow resiliency in yourself and others.

Community Webinar: How Mindfulness Helped Me Navigate Grief with Amy Rubin

Madelyn Aragon, a Licensed Mental Health Clinician, Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and founder of Safe Space Group, led our October webinar where over 100 attendees learned about the complexities of grief as well as insights and tools to manage their emotions and find a path forward. Whether the loss is recent or long ago, the goal was to help attendees feel seen, heard, and supported in their journey.

Community Webinar: Dealing With Loss and Grief: A Neglected and Misunderstood Process

November was Children’s Grief Awareness Month! In honor of this important month, we hosted a webinar providing free resources and training to educators so that they could honor this special month in their classroom and offer support to students who may be struggling with grief.

Community Webinar: Preparing for Children’s Grief Awareness Day in Your School

In December, we hosted our first fully Spanish-language webinar, presented by Faride Hernandez, who has almost two decades of professional experience in education. With an undergraduate degree in English and a graduate degree in Counseling and Bilingual Education, Ms. Hernandez understands the value of having programming available to the communities we serve. The purpose of her webinar was to provide a supportive space for individuals and families navigating the complex emotions associated with the loss of a grandparent within Latino households.
