Good Grief Announces New Board Member Ellen Cook

Morristown, NJ – Good Grief is pleased to announce the appointment of new board member Ellen Cook, as well as the full slate of officers and board members for 2017. “After serving as a group facilitator with us for two years, we are thrilled to have Ellen join the Good Grief leadership team. She brings with her a high level of strategic expertise, as well as strong and passionate support and understanding of Good Grief’s mission”, says Joseph Primo, Good Grief’s CEO.

Ellen Cook, Good Grief’s newest board member, is the North American Director of Real Estate and Facilities for BASF Corporation. Ellen’s strengths include streamlining and standardized processes, quantifying her team’s value add to BASF, developing productive partnerships, and negotiation skills. Prior to her time at BASF, Ellen worked for JLL and managed AstraZeneca’s global portfolio of 35 million square feet of space as well as overseeing strategic consulting, project management, and workplace design.

Ellen has her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. Prior to her work in the Real Estate industry, she was a clinical social worker at the Yale Psychiatric Institute, Stamford Hospital, and in the Connecticut public school system. She has her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management.

Prior to becoming a board member, Ellen spent two years as a group facilitator for Good Grief. “I am proud and honored to be a part of the leadership team for Good Grief. This is an extremely well run community, providing extraordinary support and healing to bereaved children and families. As a group facilitator, I witnessed the power of peer support and the comfort and transformation that can grow from a shared experience”, says Ellen of her new role at the organization. “I look forward to bringing creative, analytical and empathic ideas and solutions from my corporate and social work background to this fast growing and valuable organization.”

Good Grief’s mission is to provide unlimited and free support to children, teens, young adults, and families after the death of a mother, father, sister, or brother through our peer support programs, education, and advocacy. Strategic initiatives include expansion throughout New Jersey to ensure no child ever has to grieve alone.

Good Grief was founded in 2004 and opened their Morristown, New Jersey, center in 2011. The organization expanded their services and in 2015 opened a second center in Princeton, New Jersey. Today the Morristown and Princeton centers provide support to over 750 participants each month in the more than 21,000 square feet of dynamic, interactive, and creative space.
