Good Grief Announces New Board Member John McDermott

 

Morristown, NJ – Good Grief is pleased to announce the appointment of new board member John McDermott, as well as the full slate of officers and board members for 2017. “John brings a high level of strategic expertise, passionate support, and a professional acumen that will greatly help Good Grief fulfill its mission”, says Joseph Primo, Good Grief’s CEO.

John McDermott, Good Grief’s newest board member, is the Head of Compliance and Operational Risk Control for Wealth Management Americas and the Americas region for UBS. In his role with UBS, John is responsible for managing risk and compliance with respect to regional business practices, policy and regulatory requirements. He is a member of the WMA executive committee, the Americas operating committee, the Americas risk committee and he participates in the UBS intermediate holding company board and governance committee meetings. He co-chairs the WMA operational risk and control committee.

John graduated from Wesleyan University with a B.A. and holds his J.D. from Rutgers University. Prior to his work at UBS, John has four decades of experience in legal, compliance and internal audits, most notably with Merrill Lynch in the US, London and Tokyo.

Good Grief’s mission is to provide unlimited and free support to children, teens, young adults, and families after the death of a mother, father, sister, or brother through our peer support programs, education, and advocacy. Strategic initiatives include expansion throughout New Jersey to ensure no child ever has to grieve alone.

 

Good Grief was founded in 2004 and opened their Morristown, New Jersey, center in 2011. The organization expanded their services and in 2015 opened a second center in Princeton, New Jersey. Today the Morristown and Princeton centers provide support to over 750 participants each month in the more than 21,000 square feet of dynamic, interactive, and creative space.
