Kids Reconnect With Loved Ones For Great Pumpkin Ball

Melissa Parrish Press

(Morristown, NJ) – Good Grief’s sixth annual Great Pumpkin Ball, “Forks, Corks and Cocktails”, will take place on Friday, October 21st at 7 PM at Canoe Brook Country Club in Short Hills, NJ. The annual gala raises much needed funds for the organization’s mission of providing free and unlimited support to children and families following the death of a mother, father, sister, or brother. Good Grief has served over 550 children and families in 180+ communities in the state of New Jersey through its locations in Princeton and Morristown, NJ.

This year’s Great Pumpkin Ball is adding a fun and meaningful twist! “Forks, Corks and Cocktails” will be a fun and festive evening of culinary and cocktail pairings. Guests can wine and dine the night away while lending their support to Good Grief’s mission. In addition to the fun, new format, guests can still expect favorite features such as music, the silent auction, and guest appearances by Good Grief kids.

Some of the culinary creations featured at this year’s gala will be Good Grief family inspired desserts and dishes. The connection between food and family is a strong one and featuring favorite dishes is a meaningful way evokes memories of a lost loved one and helps families to reconnect with them through the months and years following their loss. The Good Grief families are looking forward to sharing both their favorite dishes, and their favorite stories of their lost loved ones.

Recently, a Good Grief Teen Participant shared, “Every year during the holidays, my mom would spend hours making cookies, letting me watch and help. My mom died last year and I am going to continue the cookie tradition. It makes me happy to get to spend time doing something I leaned from her. I also enjoy sharing the cookies with my friends and family because it is a special way to create a living memory of my mother.”
