Free Webinar: Providing and Receiving Support in Grief: The What, Why, and How

January 16 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

Presenter: Dr. Mrittika Sen

Have you ever wondered how to truly support a grieving loved one? Or perhaps, how to find the right kind of support for yourself? Our upcoming webinar, “Providing and Receiving Support in Grief: The What, Why, and How” with Dr. Mrittika Sen, is here to help.

Dr. Sen combines academic research with deeply personal experience as a bereaved mother. After losing her infant daughter in 2013, she found support through Good Grief’s programs. Now, as Head of Research and Evaluation at Good Grief, she’s sharing her expertise to help others better understand the nuanced dynamics of grief support.

In this webinar, you’ll learn:
• Research-backed insights into the “what, why, and how” of support in grief
• How mismatched expectations can impact the support process
• Tools to foster understanding and connection in times of loss

Grief is universal, but support is not always easy to navigate; let’s learn how, together.

Dr. Mrittika Sen is Head of Research and Evaluation at Good Grief. She is a subject matter expert in social psychology, interpersonal support and communication in crisis situations, and persuasion. Dr. Sen’s nearly twenty years of research, development, and communication experience spans the nonprofit, higher education, media, and publishing industries in India, Egypt, and the United States. At Good Grief, Dr. Sen employs her research skills to update programs and training and executes on an end-to-end evaluation initiative. Her recent work includes developing surveys as well as conducting one-on-one interviews with close to 30 participants. Dr. Sen develops and disseminates thought leadership through her writing and lectures on support in bereavement, empathy, perspective-taking, and effective communication. Mrittika is a bereaved mother who lost her infant daughter in sleep in 2013 to unknown causes. Her son was three at the time, and the family had moved to New Jersey just four days ago. Her family participated in Good Grief’s Nights of Support program from 2014 until 2017. Mrittika, enrolled full-time in a doctoral program at Northwestern University when her daughter died, and completed her PhD in 2017. Her son, now 14, returned as a Good Grief participant from 2022 until 2024.
