Giving Hope After Loss: Delaney Gives Back

Giving Hope After Loss: Delaney Gives Back

Princeton, NJ – Good Grief is pleased to announce today that it has received a leadership gift from Conor Delaney. Delaney, a “grieving kid” himself, lost his father at the age of 17 and knows the importance of Good Grief’s mission first-hand.

“We are incredibly grateful to Conor for his meaningful gift to support our Good Grief Princeton Capital Campaign,” said Joe Primo CEO. “This helps bring us closer to achieving our goal to fully fund our Princeton Center located on Mapleton Road.” Primo added, “Conor embodies life-long character and commitment despite his own personal loss. He speaks movingly about his grief story and understands the pivotal role an organization like Good Grief plays in a young person’s development. With this gift, Conor helps ensure Good Grief has a permanent home in Princeton.”

“As we all know, children of all ages are so impressionable and our parents are the pillars that establish our values, our foundation, and our disciplines. Losing a parent is so emotionally devastating but what is worse is the lack of that role-model going forward. Good Grief gives kids the ability to have that role-model to lean on and has created such a great community for people to find strength and comfort in,” said Delaney.

Delaney went on to say, “As a 32 year old, having essentially lost both parents by the time I was in my mid 20’s to death and disability, the thing that was striking to me was how much the Good Grief Princeton Center itself instills what I would imagine it feels like coming ‘home.’ As soon as you step into the center, there is a unique feeling of comfort and calm. This was my feeling as an adult, I can’t imagine the comfort and community that Good Grief brings the grieving kids each week. I am so excited by what Good Grief is doing and for the future of the organization!”

Good Grief will name the Princeton Center’s 9-10 Year-Old Room in memory of Delaney’s father, Mr. D, who was a 5th grade teacher. The goal of the “Hope Lives Here” Princeton Capital Campaign is to ensure children like Conor Delaney have a place to find hope for years to come.
