Good Grief Awarded $16,500 Grant from The Summit Foundation
Morristown, New Jersey—Good Grief announced today it has received a $16,500 grant from The Summit Foundation to defray costs associated with providing free grief support programs at its Morristown Family Support Center. The award specifically targets grieving children under age 15.
“We are honored to work with The Summit Foundation to provide life-changing support to more grieving children in our community,” said Joe Primo, Good Grief CEO. “Together we are empowering a community to change the outcomes for children and families impacted by grief and loss. We hope everyone in the community will tell a grieving family in need that we are here to help.”
Good Grief’s nationally respected Nights of Support programs has provided innovative and free services since 2007. The organization’s peer support model serves children ages 3-17, young adults ages 18-30, and their parent/guardian following the death of a parent, primary caregiver, or sibling.
Isolation and loneliness are among the most frequently experienced effects of grief and loss. Through Nights of Support, grieving kids and adults join with others who understand their experience. Good Grief helps reduce isolation and creates a safe environment where participants can develop healthy coping strategies that promote resilience and hope.
